Live the Questions Now – Wisdom from Rilke and the Water

It’s been a while since I’ve posted here – life has kept me busy outdoors, especially on the water. But today I want to share something different. A quiet moment. A question. A short video that means a lot to me.

  • spring kayaking or canoeing in a sandstone canyon of the Horsetooth Reservoir near Fort Collins, Colorado - POV paddler perspective
  • spring kayaking or canoeing in a sandstone canyon along a rocky shore of Horsetooth Reservoir near Fort Collins, Colorado - POV paddler perspective
  • spring kayaking or canoeing in a on calm Horsetooth Reservoir near Fort Collins, Colorado - POV paddler perspective

That reminded me of a favorite quote from the poet Rainer Maria Rilke:

“Be patient toward all that is unsolved in your heart and try to love the questions themselves… Live the questions now.”

Inspired by this, I created a short video called “Live the Questions Now” for my Youtube FitOver67 channel. It’s a blend of paddling and rowing footage, voiceover reflections, ambient music by Gavin Luke (Epidemic Sound) and a gentle reminder to embrace the unknown. The video explores ten themes that arise when we live the questions – curiosity, patience, wonder, and more.

If you’ve been navigating your own uncertainties—about aging, health, purpose, or direction—I hope this video gives you space to pause and breathe.

And if it speaks to you, let me know: What question are you living today?

This mind map illustration is part of my stock photography portfolio. Over the past few years, I’ve created many hand-drawn sketches like this one – exploring themes of aging, health, and fitness motivation.

If this visual resonates with you, you’ll find more like it available for licensing as royalty-free images. My portfolio also includes a wide selection of paddling and rowing photography, along with short POV video clips—similar to those featured in the video above.
