What’s inside that big box brought to my door by Fedex? Happiness in motion also know as 600x adventure mountain bike from Priority Bicycles. A good slogan!
You can find a lot of information on this bike with the enclosed gear box and belt drive on Priority Bicycles web site. Also, it is worth to visit the youtube channel of Ryan Van Duzer who has designed that bike for his bike packing adventures: concept, reviews and setups.
The 600x bike is somewhere between my Trek Checkpoint gravel bike and my Salsa Mukluk fat bike. So, it really fits more into “want” than “need” category in my biking. Well, I am attracted to a new technology…
So far, I made only a few ~10 mile rides in Fort Collins along the Poudre River. The belt drive works perfectly, but I still haven’t had a chance to test all gears. I am having some problems with adjusting the from disk brake. Also, I need to work on setup of the suspension fork before I go off road.
And, I started to add some things here and there including a full frame bag from Green Guru, a bottle mounted on a rear fork and a little ring bell since I am riding mostly on city bike trails in winter. It’s somewhat challenging to reach that bottle when riding.
The frame bag fits perfectly since it was designed specifically for this bike. It may also fit my Trek Checkpoint gravel bike, but is too large for my fat bike. I have a smaller frame bag for the Mukluk from Oveja Negro. I still need to figure out how to carry my tripod for photography: a handlebar mount or back racks. Right now, the tripod travels attached to my camera backpack. Usually, I am biking with a small Mindshift Rotation backpack.
Here is a short slideshow from icy shores of the Poudre River at Watson Lake Wilderness Area north of Fort Collins, one of my favorite photography location. More pictures, videos and stories are coming. Please, check the biking and skating playlist on my Youtube channel.
