Bone broth cleanse to start my battle against candida

In my recent post, I declared war on candida overgrowth to enhance my overall health and athletic performance. I’ve placed an order for the Candida & Bacterial Optimizer (CBO) Protocol from equi.life, and my battle against candida has already begun.

Adjusting my diet

My diet has been consistently healthy for years: low in carbs, rich in healthy fats, devoid of sugar, alcohol, and processed foods, with an abundance of wild-caught fish. I made a few minor adjustments by temporarily eliminating foods that I may be sensitive to based on recent tests. These include eggs, cheese, whey protein, and some nuts like Brazil nuts and almonds. There are differing opinions on consuming fermented foods while dealing with candida, so I also decided to temporarily refrain from eating sauerkraut, just to be cautious. Additionally, I’ve started incorporating chlorella and spirulina into my salads and smoothies. By the way, if you’re interested, you can find an extensive selection of books on the candida diet on Amazon.

Bone broth cleanse

While awaiting the arrival of the Candida & Bacterial Optimizer (CBO) Protocol, I embarked on a 3-day bone broth cleanse. For this cleanse, I opted for Kettle & Fire’s beef broth. It may be on the pricier side, but I genuinely appreciate the quality of their broth, which I usually use for cooking soups or substituting water when making buckwheat.

During these 3 days of the liquid diet, I consumed Kettle & Fire broth three times daily, either cold or warm (two boxes in total, 16.9 oz or 479g each, with a mere 80 calories). In the mornings, I continued with my regular bulletproof coffee, and throughout the day, I enjoyed some green tea and water with a dash of lemon. Surprisingly, I never experienced hunger pangs. Despite having slightly lower energy levels, I managed to maintain my usual daily activities, including moderate fitness workouts. After these three broth-based days, I shed a few pounds and felt rejuvenated. I’m now prepared to incorporate bone broth cleanses into my regular routine.

During this time, I took the opportunity to capture some broth images for my stock photography portfolio and crafted an informative infographic outlining the potential benefits of a bone broth cleanse, which can be summarized as follows:

  1. Gut Rest and Healing: Broth cleanses provide the digestive system with a break from processing solid foods, allowing the gut to rest. This can be particularly beneficial if you have been consuming a diet high in processed or inflammatory foods, which can lead to gut irritation and inflammation.
  2. Nutrient Density: Broths, especially bone broths, are rich in essential nutrients like vitamins, minerals, amino acids (such as collagen and glutamine), and other bioactive compounds. These nutrients can help nourish the gut lining and support its repair and maintenance.
  3. Gut Barrier Function: The gut lining plays a crucial role in preventing the entry of harmful substances into the bloodstream. Some proponents believe that the gelatin and collagen found in bone broths can help strengthen the gut barrier, potentially reducing the risk of leaky gut syndrome.
  4. Digestive Aid: Warm broths are easy on the digestive system and can assist in the breakdown of food, promoting efficient digestion. Additionally, they may help alleviate symptoms of indigestion or bloating.
  5. Hydration: Broths are primarily water-based, which helps maintain proper hydration levels, a key factor in maintaining healthy digestion and overall well-being.
  6. Reduced Inflammation: Some components of broth, like anti-inflammatory herbs and spices, can help reduce inflammation in the gut, which is associated with various digestive disorders.
  7. Support for Gut Microbiota: The gut is home to a complex ecosystem of microorganisms known as the gut microbiota. Certain types of fiber in vegetables used in broths can serve as prebiotics, feeding beneficial gut bacteria and promoting a healthy microbiome.

Infrared sauna and red light therapy

Since I am showing elevated levels of mercury in my body, I’ve made some significant additions to my wellness routine. I now use my infrared sauna nearly every day, typically for 20 to 30 minutes. Additionally, I’ve incorporated chlorella and spirulina into my diet, both of which are known to assist in heavy metal detoxification.

Furthermore, I’ve continued my regimen of red light therapy to enhance my mitochondrial health. For this purpose, I employ the Mito Pro 1500 red light panel from Mito and Rotsha infrared red light therapy devicea small torch for a local treatment. In an upcoming post, I’ll delve into the details of my morning routine, which now includes these essential red therapy sessions.
