I am reintroducing resistance bands into my fitness routines. To start I included them in my recents series of studio self portraits related to fitness and self care.
Resistance bands offer endless possibilities for strength training and a low impact workout. They are easy to carry around and you can take them for any travel.
I’ve been using thera bands for years for shoulder therapy and actual training. During my Texas Water Safari years I even set up a kayak/canoe trainer: sitting on a large Swiss ball with a paddle shaft and working out with the band anchored at a door.
A couple years ago, I got these orange bands from Undersun Fitness. It’s a nice set of 5 bands of different strengths and a door anchor. Frankly speaking, I am using only the 3 lightest bands.
James Grage from Undesun Fitness has a lot of educational content on the website and on his youtube channel: pros and cons of resistance bands, tips, training programs, how they compare to free weights, etc. You can find much more info on resistance bands on youtube, e.g. on Athlean-X channel.
You can use thera bands with handles. For more intense workout for bands without handles it is recommended to use gloves. You need some sort of door anchor for indoor exercise. It’s easy to find different anchors if you are working outdoors. Of course, there are a lot of exercises which don’t require an anchor.
In the last 3 months I shot more than 150 similar pictures related to being fit over 60 concept in my home studio. Well, it’s time to take advantage of my age and have some fun too. This is more a personal project, but most of these pictures I included in my stock photography portfolio, so they are available for licensing from Adobe Stock and other agencies as royalty free images.
